Dr. Charles (Chick) Warner

Dr. Charles (Chick) Warner and Patricia (Pat) Humphrey are a husband and wife team that arrived in Healdsburg in 1981 to start a practice and raise a family in this beautiful Sonoma County setting. They have both completed over eight years of college education and graduated from veterinary school from the University of California at Davis.
Dr. Warner obtained a bachelor degree in Animal Science with highest honors at U.C. Davis. He graduated from veterinary school nominated to the Phi Beta Veterinary Honor Society. His current hobbies are riding his Harley-Davidson, speaking Spanish, fitness, & surfing (not necessarily in that order).
Drs. Warner and Humphrey chose this area not only for its physical beauty, but also for the semi-rural lifestyle and good family environment. They raised their youngest son, Garrett. Their eldest son, Carson, was tragically killed after his 14th birthday. They spearheaded the creation of the Carson Warner Memorial Skatepark in his memory.
They presently have an "animal family" that consists of a boxer dog, Cassie, and two horses, Layla, and Tiamo.

Dr. Martha Shafer
Dr. Martha (Marty) Shafer likes the challenge of discovering the cause of a problem or illness & being able to solve it. She particularly enjoys working with non-traditional pets because less is known about these species. She strives to treat them with the same kind of quality & thoroughness of care that she gives to her dog & cat patients.
Marty received a B.A. from Wesleyan University and her D.V.M. from U.C. Davis. In vet school she pursued a track in zoological medicine with emphasis on small animals & birds. She managed the Avian Research Lab while at Davis & completed an internship in exotic animal medicine in Houston, Texas. Amongst the many exotic animals that Marty has treated are ferrets, rabbits, wallaby, rodents, sugar gliders, reptiles & birds. While in Texas she also worked as a clinician at a small animal emergency hospital.
Marty cares for "Owl", her black & white female kitty. "Owl" is shy but very vocal & affectionate. Outside of work, yoga, rock climbing, backpacking, & running are amongst Marty's hobbies. Marty is married with one son and a baby on the way.
We are very pleased to have Dr. Shafer on our veterinary team. She not only brings her unique background but also her easy-going, compassionate style.

Dr. Cheryl Dell
Dr. Cheryl Dell graduated from the University of California, Davis in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology and then went on to graduate from the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. She then furthered her education with an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Sacramento Animal Medical Center.
Cheryl has dedicated herself to practicing high quality veterinary medicine for over 24 years and has greatly enjoyed doing so. Part of the joy she finds is having the opportunity to practice a variety of specialties. She loves the challenge of internal medicine, following the clues in a pet’s history and physical exam together with diagnostic findings to uncover and treat a disease process. Additionally, she finds that performing surgeries offer her a feeling of accomplishment and the satisfaction of using her mind as well as her hands to resolve a condition. She loves being a veterinarian and feels very blessed to be in this profession.
Dr. Dell also has a passion for endurance horse riding. She rides in 50 to 100 mile races that provide the exhilaration of competition along with the enjoyment of beauty and peace of the natural world. Her horse, “Reason to Believe”, is her buddy and partner.
Cheryl lives in Santa Rosa with her life partner, Tom, and their 2 cats; Bobbi and Ben, and three dogs; Bucky, Luke, and Dakota.

Dr. Darcy Atterbury
Dr. Darcy Atterbury has been with Memorial Beach Veterinary Hospital since May of 1989. Although that’s a long time, many of you may have not visited us the first Saturday of the month, which is her normal schedule aside from occasional relief stints during the week. Darcy also does relief work for other veterinary clinics in Sonoma County when the need arises.
When not being a doctor, Darcy is busy with the plethora of responsibilities that come with being a mother of 4 kids. Brittany, Cody, Skyler, & Kip (girl-boy-girl-boy) keep her involved in schools as a weekly volunteer. Darcy and her husband Tom are also active cheerleaders and bench warmers. Tom is a local civil engineer so Darcy helps mind the books for his business.
If you haven’t caught Darcy at the hospital, surely you must have seen her in the pre-dawn and late afternoon running around town. In October of 99 she ran her 4th marathon in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Darcy is a daily swimmer and biker.

Debbie Gettys RVT
Debbie Gettys knew at a very young age that she wanted to work with animals. She can never remember a time when there wasn't a cat, dog, horse, or bunny in the house. She knew that she did not want to be a veterinarian but that she wanted to be one that nursed them back to health. Debbie went to high school in Grants Pass, Or. and then to Tacoma, Wa. to attend Pierce Community College where she got her Associates degree in Animal Health Technology.
After school she spent several years in practices in Oregon and Nevada working as a registered technician. She then took time away to pursue her interest in animal nutrition and worked for Hill's Pet Nutrition. She later realized she really missed working with animals directly and so returned to veterinary practice. She found us here at Memorial Beach Veterinary Hospital and professes a desire to make this her last stop. Along the way she also earned certifications in Nutrition and Veterinary Dentistry.
Debbie loves her volunteer work at the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito. She has been working there for over 6 years, helping to rescue and release sea lions, elephant, and harbor seals. She was also able to help with a white-sided dolphin which was an amazing experience.
PJ and Argo are her two kitty kids that are the most amazing pets on the planet. In 2009 she adopted a 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier with a pacemaker who keeps Debbie laughing. She could not imagine her life any other way!

She worked in a similar position at Bay Area Bird Hospital where they treated birds, small mammals, and reptiles.
She grew up locally in Rincon Valley of Santa Rosa.
Her animal family consists of Riley who is a black terrier/pug mix... the perfect mutt! Her rat, Monty and bird, Yuki fill out her "blended family".
Haley also loves hiking and trying new restaurants.
We are very lucky to have found Haley as she is a wonderful asset to our team.
